When a Northern Pacific Power customer refers someone who signs a contract for a new solar or battery system, the referrer receives a $1,000 check and the new customer receives $1,000 off their contract.
In order: the referral happens, the new customer signs a contract with the discount applied to it, their permit is received, and the Pacific Power Collective issues the referrer's check. The check is separate from the new customer's contract discount.
Who qualifies
- The reward applies to any new Northern Pacific Power solar or battery project. There is no first-time-customer requirement, so existing customers who refer others qualify.
- The person being referred must be new to Northern Pacific Power and not already working with us on a project.
- One $1,000 referrer check and one $1,000 customer discount per qualifying project.
Taxes
The referral check is reportable income for the referrer. If a referrer's payouts are projected to exceed $2,000 in a calendar year, we will request a W-9 to keep on file and issue a 1099 at year end.
The new customer's $1,000 is a discount on their purchase rather than income, so there is nothing for them to report.
Membership
Every Northern Pacific Power customer becomes a member of the Pacific Power Collective. Members can refer others, earn referral checks, and receive member perks. Members may receive occasional communications from Northern Pacific Power on behalf of the Collective, and can opt out at any time without affecting any reward.
Conditions
- Northern Pacific Power and the Pacific Power Collective may modify, suspend, or end this program at any time. A change does not affect referrals already made.
- One reward per qualifying project.
- Void where prohibited.
